Sawyer, From Elmendorf Lake Park to Augusta, Georgia

Sawyer was found at Elmendorf Lake Park with a rope tied around his neck. It felt like fate.

Just two weeks earlier, his finder had rescued another German Shepherd, Sasha, from the euthanasia list at a municipal shelter. The resemblance between the two was hard to ignore.

Taking on two German Shepherd puppies at once was not easy, but both dogs were eager to learn and eager to please. Sawyer quickly settled into foster care while waiting for the right home.

He was eventually adopted by a family in Georgia, where he now lives near the river.

Today, Sawyer is thriving. He loves the water and spends his time swimming, training, and exploring. He has taken part in dock diving training and barn hunt classes, using his nose to search through straw bales. He has grown into a 70-pound dog who has not met a dog he doesn’t like and will do anything for cookies.
